Home owners insurance for a rental?
hello, does anyone know if you can get anything from homeowners insurance if you had tenats there that totally thrashed your house? I know if something was stolen or something, but what about like cracked windows, nasty carpet? Any advise is helpful..
Depends.
If you have a HOMEOWNERS policy, that means, it’s owner occupied. If the owner didn’t live there, that’s insurance fraud.
If it was written as a RENTAL policy, for a house rented to others, then VANDALISM by the tenants is probably covered. But wear and tear isn’t. Nasty carpet and cracked windows COULD be just wear and tear.
